Crying can be a way for infants to communicate a variety of needs or discomforts, such as hunger, thirst, needing a diaper change, or even pain.

Belly massages and helping your baby pass gas can be helpful for relieving minor digestive discomfort, but they might not address the root cause if the crying persists. There are various other reasons why a baby might cry:

1. Hunger: Even if you've recently fed the baby, they might still be hungry.
2. Sleepiness: Overtired babies can become fussy and have trouble settling down.
3. Teething: The discomfort of teeth coming in can be really irritating for some babies.
4. Sensory Overload: Too much noise, light, or activity can overwhelm a baby.
5. Sickness: Colds, ear infections, or other illnesses can cause discomfort.
